Today, the 5th of September is:

In September 2015, at the UN Summit, seventeen sustainable development goals, or SDGs, were agreed by world leaders. It is these goals which make up the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

You can read all seventeen goals here:

Although charity is not an SDG, charities can contribute massively to climate change in lots of different ways.

As a charity, MACDT trustees are all working hard to make sure that we contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and support the community, promote education and take steps to improve environmental sustainability.

We are doing this by:

  • Facilitating events that can be accessed by everyone in the community.

  • Developing our green spaces to encourage our residents to get outside and improve their mental and physical wellbeing.

  • Recruiting volunteers.

  • Developing a Resilience Team and training resilience volunteers to support the community during adverse weather events.

  • Fundraising for projects such as the MAC Trail, the Community Shed, the restoration and repurposing of Meigle Old Pavilion and Bowling Green and Ardler Community Garden.

  • Collaborating with the local school and other local organisations.

As you can see, there is a lot of charitable work going on at MACDT, and we wouldn't be able to do it without you, our residents who volunteer and take part in our events and projects. But a charitable act does not necessarily have to be grand. Simply smiling at a stranger, listening to a friend in need, even stopping to let someone cross the road or hold a door open for someone, are all charitable acts.

Have a great International Day of Charity day!
